As Mot noted, the layouts in both cozzybob & cozzybabbles have changed. Finally got the headers right--it looks good in both Opera & Firefox (3), but I have no idea if it matches in the old Firefox & the current IE. If it's off, I apologize--if it isn't, yay!


Am going to work on the layout over at LJ, now! That one should be easier, since there are stupid-friendly options. If anyone wants to know how to customize this layout for IJ, just ask and I'll explain. I know the editing on IJ is pretty complicated. ^^

"Today is known to some as the Day of Infamy, in commemoration of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In your lifetime, what date sticks out as the most memorable in terms of world events?"

I've been painting a mural at the vet retirement center. It's a mountain background with eagles--nothing overly complicated. In fact, I've led myself to believe it's too simple and I don't have nearly enough talent to give the veterans the kind of mural they deserve. And it's hard, because I've never done this before. I've never been paid to paint something artistic, I've never even considered myself an artist before. Not a true one, nor a decent one.

But they smile every time they walk by and see it in progress. They like watching the progress, it brightens their day. They have hellish days, suffer pain I never hope to imagine. Cancer, kidney failure, Alzheimer's, confusion, humiliation... there's this one guy, he has one leg shot off from the wars. He was a sailor, and he's definitely old enough to have been involved with Pearl Harbor. He's so messed up from strokes and old age that no one can understand a word he says. He has one arm, one leg, and a wheelchair. The man never stops moving. He carts around the building mumbling about what-have-you, dragging himself by his leg. I can't imagine that, being that persistent about life. He has nothing left but motion, and he's still fighting.

So for me to ask what I remember, I'm instead left wondering what he remembers.

But since I can't ask...

4/19/95 (Oklahoma City Bombing), 4/20/99 (Columbine), 9/11, 4/16/07 (VA Tech Massacre)

I lived in NY when 9/11 happened, and I lived in Virginia (about 30 minutes away from VA Tech) when the massacre happened. Now I live about a half-hour from Columbine. Heh!

I found some efiction skins, and now part of me is desperate to create a webby for it. But the other part of me is going, "Why?" Doh!

Still, code pretty. I'm turning into a total geek about webby codes--not in the knowing-how-to-do-it sense, but the wanna-play-with-all-these-awesome-toys sense. But then I download the darn thing and I realize all the work involved (not to mention learning), and I'm all, "ZOMG MAYBE LATERS." More doh!

Doesn't matter anyway--if I made a site with efiction, I'd probably post fanfic, and it's not like need or want any further encouragement on the matter.

Instead, recently I joined authonomy for E, and I've been thinking about various novels to start if only to add something to my bookshelf. I also want to finish my portfolio site so I can add it to the profile. Heh!

It's not the most promising site in the world (many of the novels listed are horrible), but Harper Collins *does* review them. If you've got a book in progress and are looking for attention, it might be an okay place to show off.

Very tired today. I need to call Harriet and work on her puter--took the day off the mural to do it--but I don't wanna do anything. Horrible night, dudes. It's days like this that I really miss the blissful sensation of actually sleeping.

Fun news? Been rewatching Xena. It's weird but, as a kid, I somehow missed all the obviousness that was Xena/Gabrielle. I mean, I sorta knew, but I didn't *know*. I guess every time they loved each other, I was busy looking elsewhere. Shame. xD

Older and wiser, I really love the relationship, though. I also love Joxer--I forgot how much I missed his character, he's so damn funny. May be a comic relief, but he's a good one. Also? I have a new belief that Xena is probably one of the most feminist shows out there. Even more than BTVS--by a long shot, even. It just seems like ever male on the show is either hopeless and kyoot like Joxer, an ass like Ares, or only good when they *are* powerless, like when Ares loses his godhood.

Maybe this is why Hercules didn't crossover very often. *ponders*

Anyway. Much love. Gabrielle especially--I love that girl. Hee!

Where to start.

I began the mural today! Well, nearly yesterday, now. Sketched a whole lot--haven't started painting yet, and probably won't for a bit. It's going to be very detailed, me thinks, and it's both sides of the hallway, so. Hee! There's no hurry, since I charged her a flat rate and I'm doing it damn cheap. I'll take pictures when it's done. ^^

Thanksgiving was good! Only a few minor hiccups here and there, nothing to cry home about. How was yours (if you celebrate)?

Celebrated my first day on the mural with a huge glass of eggnog (and Bicardi). OMG does not go well with turkey. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Faith is kicking my ass. Which is totally fun to say, by the way. At least it's not harmed the writey any, but she's turning out to be far more complicated than I'd thought. Which is pretty darn complicated, considering she's a redemptive vampire slayer with slutty tendencies. However, with all this feministic writing lately (Faith likes woman power), I've been contemplating my most favoritest women on TV of all time. These aren't in order, and I'm sure I'm missing a few, but here's my picks:

Try this site. My brother has needed them since forever (his lens literally falls out every single day), but couldn't afford them. Dad found this site for work, and we just bought my brother's glasses for $50. I do not lie. Lens prescription and all, with add-ons. He even got magnetic clip-on shade thingies.

Really.

To order, you need to know your pupillary distance and prescription, so if you haven't had an exam in a while, you'll need to get one. But Walmart has some good deals and the eye doctor at ours is great, possibly the best we've seen in a while, so hop to it.

Highly recommended, though. I think dad said the site is based in Canada. Yay for Canadians! Hee!

I can't sleep because I slept earlier after not sleeping. Insomnia suckors!

So I decided to go looking up Buffy stuff (admittedly, this started out strictly Spike stuff), and then I sort of got sidetracked into Faith stuff, which somehow led to THIS AWESOME VID that is the BEST FAN-MADE VID I have seen in a VERY LONG TIME. PERFECT for both Buffy and Faith, but especially Faith, and OMG, if I was lacking the inspiration for A Dead Sinner, I have it now. *Gawd*. Go watch it--it's made of *awesome*. Seriously. I could babble on and on and on--it's been a long time since a vid has affected me this way. *still wibbling*

It's just... you remember that Faith-in-the-club scene with her dancing to Rob Zombie and beating up everyone? Yeah. It's that. And everything else. And OMG. OMG, dude~! Did I say OMG? It illustrates quite nicely just why Faith is probably the best female character ever on TV in my biased opinion. *still wibbling*

Kind of in and out right now, but I feel the need to bitch a bit. One thing I really hate about moving all over the country is that no matter where we end up, the parents and my grandmother feel the need to introduce themselves as, "Hi, I'm _blah_ and I'm from New York." How snobby does that sound? Hmmm?

Not to mention that, for me at least, I've spent the latter part of my years *outside* of New York. I was 16, 17 when I left, I'm 23 now. I think it's time to move beyond the golden age!

Okay--so maybe the fact that they've spent over 40 years there means something--and my grandmother even moreso. But as a young woman who cares not to *ever* go back there, I'd rather not be introduced as "one of the Yanks" from "NYC" that gypsied themselves out of their state to "come and invade ours." The attitude is much the same wherever you go in the US--Virginians hated New Yorkers even if over half of them were rich CEOs from Wall Street who came to buy overly expensive housing on the James River. New Jersey is just grr worthy, Vermont wants you to buy your damn cheese and leave, Massachusetts is nice but it's the Tax Hell, Pennsylvania wants nothing to do with you, and Colorado thinks you're all rich, colorful, gritty NYC rejects from the Bronx.

Argh!

I blame New York City--the worst thing that ever happened to New York! You'd never know there was anything else, and what's worse, I *care* even though I shouldn't, because argh again! Pet. Peeve.

I have been to NYC twice. I was a tourist both times!! I am NOT from that damn city!!! *growly*

So! Um. Yeah. I wonder if it's like that for other states? I'm fairly sure that if you're from California, everybody's all, "Oh, have you ever seen Brad Pitt?" Or in Florida, they're all, "Oooh, Mickey Mouse!"
